Mary is Professor of Educational Assessment at the IOE - UCL's Faculty of Education and Society where she teaches on an MA in Assessment and supervises doctoral students. Her research focuses on public understanding of assessment and improving how we talk about, think about and explain what happens when we decide to assess learning in educational settings. Mary has published on a range of topics including the impact of testing on students, ethical issues in assessment and public understanding and improving how we discuss assessment. She is on the editorial board of Assessment in Education journal, and advises the NCFE, Qualifications Wales, AQA and Pearson PTE through her membership of research and quality boards.
