AIP.3 | Panel discussion - AI-Enhanced Simulated Standardised Actors in Education | Zahid Malik
-
In recent years, the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and education has opened new avenues for teaching, learning, and assessment across various disciplines. Particularly in professions requiring nuanced interpersonal interactions and decision-making, such as in medical fields, the traditional pedagogical approaches are being augmented with technology-driven innovations. One such innovation is the concept of AI-simulated standardised actors for skills-based assessments, which promises to revolutionize the way learners are trained, educated, and evaluated.
We propose a panel discussion at the upcoming conference titled "Revolutionising Education: The Role of AI in Training, Education, and Assessment." This panel will explore the key opportunities and challenges associated with integrating AI-simulated standardised actors into the educational framework, with a specific focus on skills-based assessments in medical education.
The panel will consist of experts from various fields, including AI technology, medical education, ethics in technology, and policy-making, to ensure a comprehensive discussion of the topics at hand.
• Introduction: Brief overview of AI applications in education and the concept of AI-simulated standardised actors.
• Opportunities: Panelists present insights on the advantages and innovations AI brings to educational assessment.
• Challenges: An open discussion on the ethical, technical, and practical hurdles in the path of implementing AI-driven solutions.
• Q&A Session: Engaging the audience to participate in the discussion, posing questions to the panelists.
• Conclusion and Future Directions: Summarising key takeaways and potential next steps in the development and adoption of AI in education.
This panel aims to ignite a multidisciplinary dialogue on the transformative potential of AI in educational practices, particularly within skills-based assessments. By scrutinising both the opportunities and challenges, we hope to pave the way for thoughtful integration of AI technologies that can enhance learning outcomes, address equity and accessibility issues, and uphold ethical standards in education.
