In this talk I will address the concept of ethic by design in AI powered learning systems. Rather than focus on a theoretical overview of the concept, the talk will present the key elements of such an approach and demonstrate how it can be operationalised in a real-world application. I will also focus on how the critical concept of human-in-the-loop is currently mis-applied in much online assessment and discuss ethical and practical solutions.
